Andreas Messner

Andreas Messner is an Application Scientist for Quantum Technologies based in Zurich. He has a background in electrical engineering and received his PhD from ETH Zurich. There, he focused his research on the interface between optical communication, integrated photonics and plasmonics, and materials science. At Zurich Instruments, Andreas enjoys working with international customers and partners on a variety of research collaboration projects. He is an outdoor enthusiast, frequently trail running or hiking. Sleeping in a tent or under the stars is his idea of a perfect night.

Stable Synchronization over 52 Meters and 14 Days

The Zurich Instruments Quantum Computing Control System provides reliable and precise timing synchronization out of the box. But what does reliable synchronization really mean? Here, we show results from two experiments that put the synchronization stability to a hard test. First, we synchronize two SHFQC Qubit Controllers across 52 meters synchronization distance to conduct a photon pitch-and-catch experiment on a real quantum chip. Second, we assess the long-term stability of such long-distance synchronization links for a full 14-day period.

Kickstart at Aalto University: an OrangeQS Rack Uses the New LabOne Q Back-end for Quantify

Users can now run quantum experiments on a Zurich Instruments control system directly from the open-source Quantify framework. A new LabOne Q backend for Quantify was developed together with Orange Quantum Systems as part of the OpenSuperQPlus collaboration project. Within 2 days after delivery at Aalto University, qubit coherence times were measured.
